I have not been home in a long time. Packing for my flight, I kept looking at the calendar to make sure today was today; the year seems to be flying by too quickly. I was not looking forward to coming to Buffalo, but as the date inexorably approached, I found myself anxious to show how much I have changed from the little shutterbug desperate for opportunity (I hope no one thinks to bring that embarrassing album with them), into the capable professional, letting the opportunity find me. And oh, how it does. Business is usually a little slow during the wedding season, so the timing worked out to my advantage as well. It appeared I was being almost drawn back here, as I usually am to each and ever subject I shoot.
I admit, the personal invitation and the promise of payment helped a lot too. The EVL group needed a professional for their henchmen line ups, so they contacted me, as was expected. I just hope no one remembers that awful album.
Unfortunately, returning after a 4 year absence has been, so far, uneventful. Getting in earlier today, I have not had too much time to visit any of my haunts, but I was able to shoot some joggers and trees during the afternoon. Nothing of particular interest so far, my gut tells me: "be patient, wait until Saturday, when they'll come in droves, and probably even pose themselves for you". I am going to go with my gut, as I have learned to do, and patiently prepare for Saturday. I'll show them all what a professional I've become. I just hope no one remembers that album I did for EVL when they first started up.
